Watch your back when you pick up that gun in Free Fire 

 At the start, tell Kelly your guide if you are new to shooter games, or you are a veteran and ready to burn the house down. The game lets you roam around the base as it loads and you are in a plane. Kelly shows you the map and she tells you to hop off. Glide or dive towards the island before you land on a spot. As per the map, there are buildings, grasslands and various areas on the map. 

After your first frolic, Kelly gives you some gear to formally welcome you to the game. The game starts the same: jump off a plane and land somewhere on an island. Fortunately, you are safe even if you jump off high places. There is no marker to help you move towards your target space, but it is not relevant as you still have to make your way towards the safe zone. 

The map on the top left cover has you in a blue arrow, and a borderline that is safe to move in. the border shrinks every few minutes to herd people together. Once you land, find chests and loot so you can start attacking. Hopefully the loot includes a bag for you to put things in. On the bottom left is the circle for you to move around, and the running icon on the side. You can crouch, jump, or lie flat on the ground by tapping the icon on the right. If you have a sniper, the snipe option appears on the right as well. 

To shoot, tap on the big bullet icon. Tap on the small medicine icon to heal. Your stats are at the bottom center. You can get your bearings by the compass on the top center. The timer for the safe zone will appear as a warning, and you have to move away from the border. You can see how many players you killed on the top right, and how many are still running around the map. 

All guns require ammo, the number of ammo is displayed on the bottom corner for the gun you have. You can cycle between 4 weapons in your inventory. Play with the settings such as switching quick reload, aim precision and auto switch gun. For beginners, you can also have the in- game tips to help you learn the game quicker. You can also turn on the auto pickup function so you can take things automatically when you are rushing. At the controls page, you can drag the icons around to suit your play style. 

Free Fire uses gold coins as regular currency and gems as premium currency. You use gems to gain lucky spin for stronger weapons. Aside from surviving on the island, complete missions to earn rewards and costumes in game. You can buy pets with a lot of gold, or use real money to purchase one. Each pet has special abilities that will help you gain the upper hand during battles.

Training grounds or practice mode will let you train your shooting skills and familiarize with the guns in the game. A good tip is to keep aim precision on at default in the settings: it is easier to do a headshot on the enemy during shootouts. This is useful because you are always moving around and it is easier to land a shot while running around the map. As guns are the default way to kill an enemy in the game, move the buttons to fit your play style so you know where your buttons are by heart. 

Auto pickup is essential if you are the person who does not pay attention when you are running towards the loot. With this function, you can keep running if you hear gunshots. With this mode on, you will pick up things that you might not need, so look before you run. Better still, look around and take out hidden enemies before checking things out in the open. Your map also indicates where your enemy is hiding by showing you where the gun shots are coming from. 

Booyah! Being the last one standing wins the game, there is no team mode in Free Fire, unless you count your pets. Once you have a pet, remember to upgrade them to maximum ability.
